How this guide leads you

The guide above works from the manufacturer and shop figures we recorded for every cabin, and it states its rules openly — you should be able to follow every recommendation.

Step 1 — size to fit the room. First the guide asks how many people the cabin is for. Important here: capacity is a manufacturer figure, counted generously. We therefore reckon conservatively and show you the more honest number for each class — the footprint in width × depth × height. On your own, 90×90 cm is enough; for two, plan 115 to 135 cm; for three or four, from 140 cm.

Step 2 — emitter technology to fit the heat. Once the size is set, the technology decides. Full-spectrum warms in a focused, strong way, carbon and ceramic surface emitters more gently and broadly, and “full-spectrum dual” combines the two. This is the second most important question — and the reason two equally large cabins can be several hundred euros apart.

Step 3 — budget and features as the finishing touch. Only once size and technology are settled does the guide sort by price and hide what is above your budget. Colour light, audio, dimmable emitters or app control are comfort — they decide between two cabins that already fit, not the purchase itself.

What the guide deliberately does not do: invent a metric of its own or rank the cabins by a single value. The order follows your inputs, not us — and where a figure is missing, we say so rather than estimating one.

Size first: what fits in which cabin

The footprint is the most honest figure in the market, because every manufacturer counts capacity a little differently. Four classes sort the field:

• 90×90 cm — one person. The tightest and cheapest class. Here you find the Artsauna Nyborg S90V (€949.99, the cheapest cabin in the overview), alongside Göteborg 90 and Kiruna 90 (€999.99 each), the carbon-heated Home Deluxe Nero (€1,199) and the Sanotechnik Ruby 1 (€1,195). Comfortable for one — but really only for one.
• 115 to 135 cm — two people. The widest choice in the field, from entry level to corner cabin: Home Deluxe Redsun M (€999, ceramic) and Sonora M (€1,349), Artsauna Kiruna 120 and Oslo (€1,099 each), Sanotechnik Ruby 2 (€1,398), Saunaloft Hyder 115 (€1,549), plus the Dewello corner cabins Montreal and Palermo (€2,499 / €2,489). Two adults sit shoulder to shoulder here.
• 140 to 155 cm — two to three people. Home Deluxe Redsun L (€1,449) and Sahara L (€1,499), Saunaloft Lakefield 140 (€1,899), Artsauna Malmö 140 (€2,499).
• 150×150 cm — up to four people. Cheapest is the ceramic-heated Home Deluxe Redsun XXL (€1,149), above it the full-spectrum-dual models Artsauna Nyborg E150V (€1,599, at about 2,630 W the most powerful in the field) and Home Deluxe Sahara XXL (€1,699).

A special case is the three weka lie-down cabins (Tanilla, Vaala Gr. 1 and Gr. 2): for one person they have a lounger instead of an upright bench, with their own layout around 99×98 to 127×98 cm — if you prefer sitting reclined to upright, compare them with each other, not with the 90×90 seated cabins.

Why emitter technology decides both the heat and the price

Four designs appear, and they explain much of the price difference. A quick note first, because the marketing names vary:

• Full-spectrum: high-temperature emitters with focused, intense radiant heat and visible light — the most elaborate technology. Example: Artsauna Bergen 115 with six full-spectrum emitters.
• Full-spectrum dual: full-spectrum combined with carbon surface emitters, that is focused plus broad, gentle heat. The name varies by brand — Artsauna sometimes calls it “dual” or “triplex”, Saunaloft and Dewello “dual-therm”.
• Carbon surface emitters: large-area low-temperature emitters in walls and floor, gentle and even heat. The Home Deluxe Nero relies on these alone.
• Ceramic: the structurally simpler design with focused heat — in the Home Deluxe Redsun line, in individual Artsauna models and, as mild line emitters in the lie-down cabins, at weka.

Because the technology sits in the price, a price comparison is most meaningful within the same type: a full-spectrum-dual cabin may cost more than a plain ceramic cabin of the same size. Total heating power runs from about 1,300 W (Dewello Calgary 90×90) to 2,630 W (Artsauna Nyborg E150V) — more watts is not better, it follows cabin size and emitter count.

Features: the finishing touch, not a reason to buy

Once size and technology are set, the features decide the rest — and part of the price. What is common in this segment:

• Control: the standard is a control or soft-touch panel for temperature and timer. App control is rare and documented only for the Artsauna Aarhus 140 (via Bluetooth) — if you expect it, check the product page closely.
• Colour light and audio: a colour light and an audio system (Bluetooth, radio, USB) are included on almost all models. Individual Artsauna cabins add an hourglass or an ioniser.
• Dimmable emitters: on models such as Bergen 115, Aarhus 140, Kiruna 90 Premium or Malmö 140 the emitters can be adjusted — useful if the full full-spectrum intensity feels too strong.

These extras are comfort, not a reason to buy on their own: first the size to fit the room, then the technology for the heat, then the features as a choice between two cabins that already fit.

Setup, power and the costs behind the price

The purchase price is rarely the whole price. Four points that are easy to miss on the product page:

Location. Infrared radiation warms bodies and surfaces directly; the air temperature stays lower than in a classic sauna, usually 40 to 65 °C, and no water drain is needed. Suitable are dry indoor rooms with a firm, level floor and some wall clearance for ventilation. At about 190 cm tall and the weight of a solid-wood piece of furniture, the cabin is meant for a permanent spot, not for frequent moving.

Power connection. At about 1,300 to 2,630 W the core segment runs on a normal 230-volt socket — no electrician, no high-power connection. The exception is the combined Saunaloft Alpha 2 with a classic sauna heater, whose connected load is higher depending on configuration.

Assembly and delivery. The seated cabins are plug or click systems; Artsauna gives about 30 minutes assembly time as a guide. Delivery is by freight forwarder in the format of a small cupboard (usually 190 cm tall, weka lie-down cabins up to 196 cm), so door widths and ceiling height belong in the planning before you compare prices.

Warranty. At Artsauna the statutory two-year warranty applies first; an additional 12-month guarantee costs extra. “Warranty” in the advertising therefore does not automatically mean an extended guarantee is included in the price — a point to keep in mind when comparing two cabins of similar price.

We read the prices on this page straight from the publicly visible offer of each linked shop, with a retrieval date (21 July 2026) and gross including VAT. A price from a third source never goes onto a purchase link here, and struck-through discounts are left out. These are high-price furniture items between €949.99 and €2,999; the figures are snapshots, and sorting and filtering follow your inputs alone — not what we might earn on.
